Twin Time!
Vandita and Anupam found out not very long ago that they had to move to Brazil this week. We were all pretty stunned but Peter and I decided we would come out anyhow because we were really looking forward to our trip and I really needed some time off of work. Since they are flying out tomorrow we didn't make any plans to do any touristy things and just wanted to hang out with them while we could. This morning after we ate breakfast together Peter and I played with the girls for a long time. At first they were shy to Peter, we think it is because of his facial hair, but they warmed up to him after he showed them a cool fish app on his iPad. We played with their toys and made a good size mess while the poor house-help was trying to get the place cleaned up. We took a bunch of pictures and just enjoyed them while Vandita and Anupam were busy packing up clothing and doing last minute leaving things. Vandita had to run to the doctor so Peter and I went with her in order to get a SIM card for his iPhone and pick up a couple Octopus Cards (those are the cards you use for all your transportation needs). It didn't take too long and then we headed back up to the flat on The Peak. Anupam wanted to go out to lunch and they are members of the Cricket Club which is supposed to be a nice place where only members are accepted to dine and watch games. They took us to their club and we went upstairs to the pub which was a nice restaurant with a bar. It had a lot of space for a place in Hong Kong which apparently makes its very desirable. We had appetizers, lunch and dessert which were all fantastic. Peter had a lamb-burger and said it was really good. After we were through Anupam dropped us off at a hiking trail that they highly recommended. They were going back to pack more things and take a nap and the girls were also sleeping so Peter and I decided we would take a walk. The trail started off not too impressive but not too far into we got to see great views of the mountains and several reservoirs. The bridges were beautiful and along the way there several information boards that gave us the history of the area. We took lots of pictures and when we had come to the end of the trail we hopped on a bus up to Stanley. We definitely want to hit Stanley (at least once) but it was just after 5 and we wanted to make sure we got more time in with our friends so we got on another bus that took us back to Central. From there we managed to find our final bus that would take us back up the Peak. It's funny how things are coming back to us from when we were here 2 years ago. We will head in a certain direction because we feel like we should for a few minutes and then we will know exactly where we are and what we are supposed to do. Once back at the flat we rested our feet for a little bit. Peter had a bit of a headache so he laid down for a minute or two. Anupam was going out to buy more suitcases and asked Peter to join him so he got up and the two of them left. Vandita still had things to pack so after the twins ate dinner I played with them until it was bed time. We had a lot of fun, they danced for me and told me all sorts of things (most of which I understood) and I showed them pictures on my iPad of our children and of Goose. They liked a video I had of Javan playing a bunch of songs on the piano. We tried not to make any more mess because Vandita and the girls picked everything up not long ago. We were having so much fun though they passed their bedtime by 20 minutes. Finally, they gave me hugs and kisses and were put to bed. Peter came back and we all had Indian food for dinner. Delicious! We were going to watch a movie but we got to talking and then it was pretty late so we decided to just go to bed.
