MENSA Material

Peter and I have been researching schools for Brye to go to since she starts Kindergarten this year. We really liked a private school in Deland but the price was a little steep and when it was time for Abbi to start we didn't want them to be separated or have to take Brye out of the school she had already started. We found this really great gifted program that Volusia County puts on for free. In order to be accepted into the program, for this coming school year, we would have to get Brye tested by a private child psychologist. Peter found a good Dr and made an appointment and today we took Brye in. The Dr was impressed immediately with her personality and after a little talking and explaining the test began. We weren't aloud to be in the room so we waited while the test took just over an hour. When they came out I asked Brye what she did and she told me a few things and then the Dr gave us the results. The image here is the Intelligence Bell Curve. The average person has an IQ of between 90-109, Above average have between a 110-119, Superior Intelligence is ranked at 121-130, and Very Superior intelligence is anything above 130. Well, when the doctor gave us the results we were informed that Bresa's verbal IQ ranked at 139 and her overall average IQ is 132. We were also informed that she qualifies for MENSA, an elite group of people who have an IQ that is in the top 2% of the world's population. We have always been very proud of Bresa and we knew since the day she started talking that she was very intelligent. Personally, I had no idea she was a genius. She may be smarter than Mommy, but she is still my baby girl.

Congrats!!

MENSA is a fun group. People think that they are nerdy and just a bunch of geeks but they most certainly are not.
At Barnes and Noble in Fort Myers we had a Bikers Verses Brains Bowl and they would compeat in a trivia contest. But what most of the people watching didn't know is most of the bikers were in MENSA too! It was one of the most fun events.
There was also a little girl whose mom worked at B and N who was in MENSA and she loved it she was about 6 years old and they just got together for fun playdates at science museums and places where they can learn and play. I will see if I can find her Moms info if you want to contact her about having a child in MENSA.
