Refreshing

Just recently the children told us that there was a wet spot in the carpet in the play room. We had been getting a lot of rain so right away we thought it may be
leaking in from the outside. Sure enough we found the spot under the window where the carpet was wet and then a day or two later I found that the living room was also leaking under the window. Because the house is fairly new there was some settling that occurred and so there were a few cracks along the outside in the back. We had planned on having the house painted at some point because the paint that was used before was cheap and faded, but it was something that we thought we could hold off on for a good year or so, apparently not. Peter called a guy from our church and he came by
and sealed the cracks and pressure washed the house then over the course of about a week (took long because it rained everyday) the house got painted. It looks good and we are happy with it but it was a blow to our wallet that we weren't expecting. The good thing is that we have not noticed any water coming in during all the storms we've had. We still need to replace the drywall and baseboards where the water was coming in but that will have to wait. We also need to get gutters up so that the rain pour off from the roof doesn't cause more settling to occur.
