Lego Party

Javan has never had a real birthday party with his own friends so we figured this would be the year. We talked about it with him and decided to do a Lego Party at home. Peter and I worked hard and put some
good ideas into the works and ended up with a great party that everyone was impressed with. We made a Happy Birthday banner made out of Lego plates and Legos, I made a Lego piñata (the four round parts
on the top only lasted through one hit with the bat but it was still cool). Our friend, Brenda, made Javan an AWESOME Lego cake! I took a picture of one of Javan's Lego mini figures and fixed it up in Photoshop and then printed it really large. The kids each got a badge sticker and played
a form of Pin the Tail on the Donkey with it. Peter made a number 5 out of Legos and each of the kids got the same pieces and the first one to recreate the 5 won. We also did pop the balloon
game and had cake and opened presents. Javan really enjoyed his party and it was great that we could do it with very cost. All the kids seemed to have a great time also but I think the parents were more impressed with the Lego decor.

Happy 5th Birthday Dude!

My sweet little boy is 5 today. Last night I told him I didn’t want him to get bigger because I wanted him to stay little and my baby forever. He said, “Mommy, I will still love
you.”After having him tell him he would still love me when he was 5, 6 and 35 I told him I suppose it was alright for him to get bigger. He had told me last week that he wanted to bring brownies into class today so last night Bresa and I made a nice batch and I cut them this morning to send them off with Javan. When I got home from work he said they were delicious and he was happy he got to share
them with the class. We didn’t have many plans and Javan didn’t really say there was anything he wanted to do but when we asked he what he wanted for dinner at first he said Macaroni and Cheese and then he said Spaghetti. Neither of those really excite me but it is Javan’s day. We told him we could go out if he preferred but that we could stay in and eat spaghetti also. Ultimately he decided he wanted Chick-fil-A, I suspect the playground had a lot to do with it. When we got there he was jumping all around and the cashier said, “you have a lot
of energy”, he blurted out “It’s my birthday!!” We got our food and sat down and a bit later the manager came over with 3 balloons and an ice cream sundae just for the 5 year old. How sweet!! The children ate and then played on the playground for awhile. Peter and I just sat and watched them through the window. When Javan came back to get a drink we asked him if he was ready to go home and open presents. Of course, he said yes to that.
We got home and sat down and Javan started tearing open all his gifts. The girls had gotten together and bought him a cool Lego truck and car. Abbi spent even more of her own money and bought him a light saber (he really wanted one for Christmas) and a little toy that he had said he wanted when he saw it at the store. Peter and I bought him the remote control car he didn’t get for Christmas and a new Darth maul bike. Cousin Tyler had given Javan a bike but it is pretty little and the entire rear tire and tube needs replaced. Javan saw a bike at Wal-mart and got right up on it and said “Look Mommy!! This bike is just my size, it’s for almost 5 year olds!!” Javan is going to have a Lego party on Saturday. I have lots to do to get ready for it but I am excited, it should be really cute. Happy Birthday precious boy, I hope you always stay so sweet and loving to me no matter how big you get!

Goose's Bad Breath

So Goose has bad breath. And I when I say "bad breath" what I really mean is "you want to kill yourself when she opens her mouth even if she's 10 feet away-bad breath". She is from Europe after all (Greece to be exact) but her teeth are rotting and two have already fallen out. Being that our children need to go to the dentist before our cat she hasn't really made it to the top of the list as of yet. We were talking in passing to our neighbor, who has 5 cats, and said something to the effect of "Goose's breath smells like she keeps a dead animal in there". He told us that we needed to take her to the vet to which we agreed but told him it wasn't currently in the budget. A few days after Christmas he came over with a Christmas card and inside was a gift certificate to have Goose's teeth cleaned. We were excited to get it done but also a little
anxious for Goose as well as what the vet would say. I told our neighbor that she would probably need dentures. Well, I got the carrier out and made an appointment and then this morning we put Goose in the carrier- which was much easier than we had expected it to be. Goose sang all the way to the vet and was very scared about the whole thing. I was a bit reluctant to let her go but I had to get to work. It seemed like I waited all day for the vet to call me and tell me Goose was all done. It was after noon and I was told she did fine. When I went to pick her up after work I could hear her screaming in the back room. She was not a happy kitty. The nurse said she did well but they had to extract 6 teeth in all. They told me was "spicy and quite
the character". Goose is really a one person cat. She loves me and tolerates Peter but outside of us she hates strangers. When I got her back to the car to take her home she looked all around to see what was happening again but she didn't talk at all. I took her upstairs to our room and opened the carrier, she came out on her own but her legs were still under the influence of anesthesia so walked like her butt was really heavy. Hopefully soon she will settle down and let it wear off. **Update 1/20; Goose is all better and eating well. She seems really happy too. We don't know if it is just our imagination or if maybe she feels much better and is no longer in any pain.
