Cat nap

The other day I saw Lucy Goose laying oddly by the window. I thought she was batting at bugs or lizards but she didn't move at all. As I got closer I realized she was sleeping in this position and it was just too cute not to capture and share.

Update on Donna

Let us continue prayer for Donna. She has had a setback. Her platelet levels continue to drop and the treatments cannot continue till they are up. Doctors tell her that her reaction to this treatments is baffling and they ordered a bone marrow biopsy. Results will be back in 10 days . So until then we are a standstill. Hopefully the cancer is also at a standstill, and some treatment may resume soon. IHN

Happy Anniversary to us...Again

It all started 10 years ago today when Peter kissed me for the very first time. Took him long enough. :) You know the rest of the story after that and here we are today as happy as ever! We never celebrate this anniversary and to be honest we have probably forgotten it more times than we have remembered it over the years so today was not much different than any other.

I have been taking training classes to become certified to volunteer for hospice in my spare time and finally got my certification a couple weeks ago. I got a call yesterday for my very first patient so I was up and out early to go to my visit. Peter stayed home with the girls and worked and when I got home I told him how beautiful the weather was outside. After some quick cleaning we went to the park for a picnic and some playing before the rain started. After we ate the girls played on the playground and Peter and I sat in the grass and did our homework for the class we take at church on Wednesday nights. The picture's not that great but I was too lazy to get up and get a better one. So far it's been a nice day and now the girls are taking a bath to get all clean for church in the morning.

Cousin Scott

Some of you may know by now that my sister is also pregnant, with her first, and she is due within just a couple days of us (going by our ultrasound date). They chose to find out the sex of their baby and recently found out that It's a Girl!! Congrat-
ulations Janell and Wyatt, Bresa and Abbi can't wait for a girl cousin! If you want to see more photos of their new addition you can go to the Scott-Gazette on the right and go to their gallery.

I'm Famous

I have had lots of people tell me this past week that they saw me on TV. Well, it's true. I was on for channel 6 and 9 because of work. My chief of Police decided he wanted our agency to host a citywide Gun Buy Back Program for the citizens. Basically, anyone could bring us a gun and we would give them a $50 gift card to either Target or WalMart. I wasn't too sure about the response we would get, especially since it was held last Friday when the weather was pretty rainy all day long. Well, within the first 4 hours we had already taken in over 100 guns and the Chief had to send someone out to go buy more gift cards because we ran out and there were people waiting. In the end we took in 198 guns which are now all on my office floor (I have a big office). Anyhow, I was there because I am in charge of all the evidence that the agency takes in and this was no exception. A lot of the officers took different shifts but I had to be there for the whole thing, which I was fine with. I will be responsible for accounting for each firearm and then destroying them after the proper paperwork is done. During the buy back my job was to take the gun from a range officer who had cleared the weapon, I would write down all the firearm information (make, model, caliber, type) including the serial number. Each gun was called into our database to make sure it wasn't stolen and then I had to transport all the guns in the end to my office, with an escort following me of course. It was a busy and long day but it was very enjoyable and because of the huge success my Chief wants to do another one in a few months. So, if you think you saw me on TV last Friday, you're not crazy. My mom saw me but because I hadn't mentioned it she thought it was a dream. LOL

Update on Donna

Donna came home from the hospital this evening. Her body was only able to withstand 9 of the scheduled 15 treatments. She gained 39 pounds , and has developed a neuropathy (?) in her hands and arms. Meds have been prescribed for the pain. She has dealt with some of the side effects before (nausea, sores in her mouth) so this too shall pass . After a bit of R&R she will return for more treatments. She and I , along with the family thank all of you for your prayer, well wishes and special thanks for the birthday cards to celebrate her 50th on Thursday. She herself will respond to all of you when her hands are less swollen. God is good and has given her faith, strength and endurance.

Praise the Lord.

Happy Labor Day

I like having paid days off. I wish I had more, but since I don't I have to make the best of what I get. Peter is still so busy with his business (a good thing indeed) that I decided he needed a day off from the girls and I could use a day of fun with them myself. The next thing I had to do was figure out what we haven't done before. Hmm, how about Disney? Okay, so we have definitely done Disney before, but the girls always love it each time as much as the last. We got up early and I did the princess' hair, complete with tiaras and sparkles, before we drove over to pick up Grandma and head out to Disney. We started off at Hollywood Studios where we went on the new Toy Story ride. My mom had never been but the girls and I had gone with Janell and Wyatt when it first opened. It is worth the little extra side trip just to ride it once. Then we headed over to the Magic Kingdom and did some princess type things and walked miles and miles. It was super hot out but there was hardly anyone at the park so the lines weren't long at all and we got to do everything that the girls asked. We were all getting tired but we wanted to use some night glowing things and see the castle lit up at dark so we visited with a few characters and then ate dinner while the sun set. We pretty much exhausted ourselves and finally decided to call it a night and head home. I think the girls fell asleep before we were off Disney property and if I didn't have to drive home I probably would have done the same. We had a really great time though, I always enjoy Disney World. Thanks Grandma for getting us in and spending the day with us, we had a wonderful time!!
