Happy Halloween!!

Since we are having a garage sale over at my mom's house we were over in Winter Park Friday night. Abbi and I had been here since yesterday so after Bresa got out of school Peter brought her over to us. I got the girls all dressed up and did Abbi's face paint and made sure they had their trick or treat bags and then we were off. We went to a local church where they were having a little event with Trunk or Treating and some games and food. We had some dinner and even some cotton candy and after seeing and touching everything we decided to do some real trick or treating. We drove down the street to where our friends, Kent and Jake, live and talked to Kent for a while. Jake was out with Kendrah getting treats elsewhere. After a little chatting we did a bit of walking making a loop and gathering treats from the houses with lights on. The girls were so cute and as always got a lot of attention. Abbi would go up to the door and yell "trick or treating" before anyone answered. Bresa was always curious as to what treat got dropped in her bag that she often forgot her manners because she was too caught up in looking at her new candy. They were really sweet and when we had almost made the loop back to the car Abbi started asking where Ophelia (our Civic) was. We made it back and then went to my mom's to spend the night.

Preparing for Halloween

I went to work on Monday and then decided to take the rest of the week off. I had planned to take Wed-Fri off but I just wasn't in the mood to go in on Tuesday so after talking to my Sergeant I was cleared to stay home until next week. My mom and I are having a garage sale on Friday and Saturday and that always takes lots of prep time and now I get to spend some more time with the girls. Bresa has school but Abbi is home during the day so her and I play in the morning time and she helps me get things done around the house. One morning we decided that we should make Grandma a Halloween picture since she didn't have anything up and Daddy found some cool Halloween stickers in the attic that I picked up last year. Abbi put a lot of work into Grandma's picture and later we took it over to her. Grandma really liked it and Abbi was so proud of her hard work. What a big girl!

Women's Retreat

The Women's Ministry at our church put on a Women's Retreat this weekend at Lake Yale. Peter, being the wonderful husband that he is, told me that I should go to it. So yesterday afternoon I went and picked up my friend Paula and we drove over to Lake Yale to make it in time for registration. It wasn't too far for us and we found it with no problem which is always a plus. After we found our room had some free time we ate dinner and then went to our first of three sessions. We had a great speaker and today we had time scheduled for each of us to have our own quiet time where ever we wanted. I chose to go down to the lake and sit alone at a stone table with a gorgeous view of trees and the water. It was so peaceful there it was very easy to get lost in the Word and forget your worries. Throughout the retreat they gave away a few gift baskets that someone had put a lot of time into making and I won one! Overall, I really enjoyed myself and wished that the retreat was longer than it was. I got a lot out of it and look forward to the retreat next year.

Update on Donna

Donna went back into the hospital yesterday to resume treatment . She had her second treatment at 10 AM and though her BP spiked a bit the doctors will proceed with the 2 PM treatment. She has not had any treatments for some time as her platelet count was so low. On entering the hospital it was up to 141 so it was a go. Our prayer is that she is able to take a full round of treatments so that the fight continues to achieve NED (no evidence of disease) . I thank all of you for your constant support and prayer.. Let us pray . IHN

Central FL Zoo Boo Bash

The Zoo near our house was having a Boo Bash where the kids were invited to wear their Halloween Costumes and go trick or treating around the zoo. They are having the even today tomorrow and next weekend as well. I won't be here next weekend so I wanted to take the girls today because it sounded like too much fun to miss and with our passes it was free for us. I got the little butterfly and fairy all dressed up in their costumes and then we headed down to the zoo to get candy from the animals. The girls had a great time and loved wearing their outfits for everyone to see. My unbiased opinion is that they were the cutest ones in the whole park. Daddy came with us and we walked the entire park and stopped at each treat station. We stopped and looked at a few animals but Bresa made it pretty clear that we were there for the treats not the wildlife. I was glad that the girls got to wear their costumes more than one time this year. They get to wear them again to AWANA the week of Halloween, I am not sure if Bresa gets to wear hers to school too. We haven't heard yet.

Movie Night

It's been a long time since we took the girls to a movie in the park and the weather has been so nice lately I figured it was time again. We gave a call to Michael and Angella and met them at a local pizza place for dinner and then headed over to the park for the movie. Bresa and Abbi enjoyed the big kitty made of hay with a pumpkin in Downtown Sanford and they also played with the "dancing guy," those long skinny inflatable things with arms that advertise something by moving by the air blown in them. The movie in the park was a kids halloween movie that was perfect for this time of year. The girls were only slightly afraid but they couldn't keep from watching it even through the scary parts.

Bresa's verse

Wednesday nights Peter and I take a class at church and while we are there our girls attend AWANA. AWANA is a kid's praise program where they learn different things and do crafts and play games for a couple hours. Abbi is in the Cubbies class and Bresa is in Sparks. Every week they have to learn a different verse to get a prize but before Bresa could get her book or even her vest (the uniform) she had to learn John 3:16 and recite it without any problems or help. As you probably know, that's a really long verse so I started a few days early so Bresa would have plenty of time to memorize it. Well, once again I underestimated her and she had it down within 10 minutes.

Our buddy Booster

The girls just love their horse that they got for Christmas last year from my Dad and Judy. The other day they told me Booster was sick so I took him out to the living room and made an appointment with the Veterinarian. After Dr. Peter did a little check up (while the girls were sleeping) and then we changed the batteries, first time since we got him, he was as good as new.

The Brevard Zoo

With our membership to the Central FL Zoo we also get into 150 other zoos and aquariums for free or half off. The CFZ is pretty sad so we wanted to take the girls to a good zoo. I had heard good things about the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne so I thought we would give it a try since it was one of the free admission parks with our passes. The first thing we did when we got there was go see the giraffes. Abbi's favorite animal is the giraffe so she was super excited to see them. I thought she might be afraid because they are so big and I didn't think she really new how big they could be. The BZ had this really cool place where you buy crackers for the giraffes and then you can feed them face to face. There was one giraffe there when we started and the tour guide said that he was the oldest one they had and the alpha male so none of the other giraffes would come up to the stand if he was around. Well, after being there for about 15 minutes all the other giraffes came up and starting eating too. The guide was really surprised and said that had never happened before. It was really cool. The girls had a blast feeding them and I had a blast taking pictures. We moved on to the rest of Africa and then on to this really cool bird enclosure where you are aloud to feed the Lorikeets. When Peter walked out with food cup he got swarmed with the birds. They were very pretty but also very loud. They tended to bite anything that was offered so the girls didn't want to hold the cup by themselves. Abbi was the brave one and helped Daddy feed them but Bresa wanted no part of it. After that we waited out some rain and then saw the rest of the animals. Bresa had fun feeding the deer through the fence in the FL Everglades and Abbi liked the Eagle that couldn't fly. Once we had seen all the animals the girls wanted to go back to the giraffes. We made one last stop and then decided we had better get home before we got rained on even more. We had planned on stopping at the beach for the evening but the rain was still coming so we just drove home for showers and dinner. We had a really great time and even if we had only seen the giraffes the drive would have been worth it. I know the girls had a great time, as you can see Abbi was pretty worn out from all the fun.

A Beautiful Day

Today was so gorgeous that we just had to take advantage of the wonder weather. After I took the girls grocery shopping we met Daddy at the park and had a picnic for lunch. After that we went over to a party for our friend Dan who turned 30. The girls splashed around with in the spa with their feet and eventually got in and played on the steps since mommy and daddy weren't swimming. We had a great time and pretty much stayed outside the whole time during the party. The weather was just too gorgeous to eat in doors.

My turn for Snack

Every Monday night we hold Life Group at our house and we rotate around the group so everyone has a turn bringing snack. I think we have seven couples now so it takes a while to get back to you when it's snack time and I like to make my turn count. Good thing I have helpers because that makes it much easier. This last time Bresa helped me make Pretzel Turtles by putting out the preztels and putting the Rollos on them and then later pressing in the pecans, I drizzled some white chocolate over the tops and they were delicious! I made a couple other things too but this is the one I got the most help with.

Happy Birthday Steve!!!
