Some more beach

The kids have so much fun at the beach I look forward to being able to take them. The beach is free and we pack up a cooler so it's a nice cheap day trip where the kids can run out their energy and have some exercise. Lisa met
me at the house about 9 and we loaded everything up and headed out. There weren't many people there when we arrived and unloaded. We got everything set up on our spot on the beach and then let the kids run. They had a great time playing in the ocean and finding little shells and building sand castles. Javan brought a firetruck
that Jana had given him and he played all day with it. He buried it and swam with it and made roads from the ocean to our canopy and back. The kids ate their lunchables and grapes happily and then played
some more. We stayed at the beach until almost 4 and then packed it all up to head out. We stopped at Burger King on the way out of New Smyrna because I had several coupons for free ice cream cones.
The kids were very excited to be getting ice cream after a long day in the hot hot sun. Eventually we rounded up all the kids again and got back home just at 5.

Bresa is 9

It is so hard to believe that I am a Mommy of a 9 year old. I still have a hard time grasping the fact that I am a Mommy, let alone that my first baby is 9! I had to work all day but Daddy made the children pancakes for breakfast and made sure Bresa had a good day (while still trying to get some work done). When I got home I asked Bresa what she wanted to and she said have
Wendy's for dinner and go to the movies to see the new Disney/Pixar movie, Brave. We stopped for dinner and then we went to Michael's so Abbi and Javan could get something nice for their sister. Bresa picked out a couple things and then we headed to the movies. Brave was a really good movie and we all enjoyed watching it. There were only three other people in the whole theater which made it even better. It was past my bed time when we got out so we headed home so we could get to bed. I can honestly say that having Bresa as a daughter has had it's share of stressful days and feelings of pure defeat but we are learning how to walk with each other instead of standing in each other's way. I had never known a love like that of a Mommy before I laid my eyes on our sweet red-headed little girl. She stole my heart and I know that on the really hard days the love and joy that I get from being her Mommy far exceeds any discomfort or anxiety that may come along with it.

Life Group at the Beach

Since it's summer time we are a bit more lax about our Life Group meetings. We still meet every Sunday but sometimes we just have a nice social gathering and play games or just hang out. This week we planned to meet at one of our member's family's timeshare: a condo in Daytona Beach. We made plans to all bring certain foods and we were going to hang at beach for a while then move poolside where we could grill up some burgers and swim some more. I was responsible for dessert and it was requested that I bring my Chocolate Covered Strawberries. I had no problem with that but I was a bit concerned with keeping
them cool enough no to melt while we played at the beach. Since our lead Pastor is our Life Group Leader he didn't show up until well after second service ended but Peter and I met another couple there earlier after first service. The kids played and us adults hung out and enjoyed the sun and sand. After everyone was there the kids all took turns boogie-boarding and then the men took off to go surf some. Us ladies watched the kids and lost one or two a time or two but eventually we had them all accounted for. When the men returned we packed up the
beach things and headed up to the pool. The kids swam some more and the guys started the grills. Dinner was delicious with James' famous huge burgers and they were followed by wonderful and still beautiful chocolate covered strawberries. The kids were disappointed when I said it was time to go but we really didn't have a choice since it was already after 7 and I have to be up at 4:30 for work tomorrow.

Cow Appreciation Day

It's the Annual Cow Appreciation
Day where you can dress up like a cow and get free Chick-fil-A. We always participate so earlier the girls started working on their costumes in order to be ready for the evening. Javan had a rough day and started throwing up just after lunch and continued all evening. When I got home I told Peter to take the girls to dinner and I would just stay home with our little man. Javan seemed fine with being sick, he didn't have a fever or act like he didn't feel well he would just stop what he was doing and throw up. Sometimes he wouldn't even be bothered and Abbi would have to come tell us because Javan would just go on with what he was doing before it happened. I made Javan some oatmeal and he ate a little and then got sick again so I gave him some crackers which he ate about 2 of and then drank some juice and water. He went to bed and Peter came home with our little cow-girls.

Beach Day

Instead of going to the movies today Lisa and I decided we would take the kiddos to the beach. We were suppose to leave my house at 9 but Lisa was pretty late so we didn't leave until closer to 10. This actually worked out really well for us because as we drove to New Smyrna (just south of Daytona) Beach we could see the the rain clouds building. Once we got to New Smyrna we
got rained on a bit but by the time we parked the car (in a great spot because no one else was there) it was barely sprinkling. We checked the Weather Dopplers on our phones and waited about 10 minutes and then decided we would head to the beach. There were very little drops coming still but we had planned on getting wet anyhow. Lisa and I discussed it and decided we would just take our beach bags to the beach but after we had found a spot I decided to unload
the rest of the car because the dark clouds didn't seem to be coming our way. The kids had a blast playing in the ocean and in the sand. Lisa and I played a little with them and also relaxed in our chairs under my canopy. As the day progressed the sky kept getting bluer and bluer, it was great! Abbi and I made a sand castle and other people at the beach kept coming over
to see it and ask how we made it. It was a really simple drip castle but people seemed to be pretty impressed. The kids had lunchables and watermelon for lunch and enjoyed being able to run out some energy. Our friends gave us some beach toys that their boys outgrew. They all ended up in the backyard at our house but I made sure to at least grab the big yellow
dump truck. Javan had a ball with that truck and even took it swimming in the ocean with him. All the children would have stayed all day if I would have let them but we ended up leaving just after 2 because I had a Pampered Chef party I was hosting and I still had to get a few things together and cleaned up before the guest arrived tonight.
