Update on Donna

Update:
Donna got the results of her bone and body scans this afternoon and the news is not good . There are numerous new tumors and the doctor did not address the results of the bone scan (leaves one to speculate). The doctor said that we are in the 9th inning... She will resume treatments on Monday (for those in the medical field it is Torisol). Due to the increased pain and how its' intensity has increased. he has ordered a pain pump. Naturally today is bad but we talked and where there is life there is hope.
We ask for your continued prayer and support. All of you have been so supportive throughout this nightmare and I /we do not know how we would have gotten thru without you .

Happy Memorial Day!

Because of Memorial Day I got to enjoy a nice three day weekend. Peter taught a class at church this past semester and one of the couples in his class invited us over for a "pignic." They live just down the road from us but they have acreage where they raise numerous farm animals, including pigs. One of those pigs wasn't too lucky because he got choosen to be our meal on this fine day. Abbi was at Grandma's house but Bresa had a blast on all the fun stuff they had set up. She jumped on the trampoline, slid on the slip'n slide and splashed in the pool after feeding some animals. She also got to beat a pinata and grab some candy. We headed home just as the rain drops started but we leave just minutes away so we didn't get wet. Thank you to all the veteran's that earned our freedom and keep this country free!!!

A Day Out

The rain has been coming down nonstop for a week now. Although today was my first day off for the weekend I felt like I had been cooped up in the house all week. I called up my mom and asked her if she would like for me to take her to lunch. She was anxious to get out of the house too so we decided to meet at the Fashion Square Mall in Orlando. This was a good chance for Daddy to get some time alone again and get some work done without any distractions. The kids and I met up with mom and had lunch and then we walked the mall for a few hours. I hadn't been to that mall in ages and it was good to see most of the stores were still open and there were even a couple new ones that looked promising. When we split to go home mom took Abbi with her for a sleepover, lucky girl. It was really good to get out and see my mom again. We use to shop like this at least once a week but now that we both have full time jobs we don't get to get out as often.

AWANA Ceremony

Since school is letting out soon that means that AWANA at church is ending also. The girls go every Wednesday to Cubbies (Abbi) and Sparks (Bresa) where they learn great things about God and Jesus Christ. They are responsible every week for learning a bible verse and reciting it back to the AWANA leaders. When they do this they earn little patches or gems for their vests. Tonight was the awards ceremony where the girls went up to the stage with their classes and sang songs and received their awards for all their hard work. They will each stay in the same class next year but the year following that Abbi will move up to Sparks.

On May 2nd the girls and I planted some bulbs in a pot and in the garden for our enjoyment. You can read the post by clicking here if you missed it before. Today before we went to church I happened to look over by the tree and saw a nice tall stem spourting up from the ground. I went over to check it out and called the girls to take a look. Sure enough there were about 4 other little sprouts coming up around the tree. We went over to check out the pot to see if there was any action there and we were pleasantly surprised to find three little buds just breaking the soil's surface. I guess the couple torrential downpours we had this past week helped give these bulbs the nutrients they needed to break free. I can't wait to see how many more sprouts show up, or even more exciting, how pretty the flowers are when they start to bloom.

Time for Daddy

Peter tries to work hard during the week but with two or three kids to watch he doesn't get as much done as he would like. I decided to give him some nice and quiet time for himself today and took the three kids to the zoo. Our membership is still good until the end of next month and with this hot weather it is the perfect place to run off to. The girls got on their swimsuits and lathered up in sunscreen and I packed a lunch. They played for a good hour and half at the splash pad before sitting down to eat. After lunch we walked around to see a couple animals but it was hot out there so we headed back to the car. Before getting home we stopped at the grocery store and shopped for the week. I was trying to stay out as long as possible so Peter could have some time. We were gone for probably 3 hours total but Javan needed to take a good nap in his crib so we had to return. I wanted to get pictures of the girls in the splash ground but it was pretty crowded today I had my hands full with Javan sitting over in the shade.

Poor Baby

Baby Javan has a bit of a cold. He started coughing on Friday but Peter said he didn't notice so I didn't think too much of it. Then on Saturday it got worse and stayed Sunday too. Peter took Javan to the doctor this morning to get him checked out and see what it was. The doctor gave us a prescription for his cough and we have to flush his nasal cavity out with saline solution (he doesn't like that). You really wouldn't know he was sick though, he is still as happy as could be and talking away. Even with a snotty nose he is still the cutest baby ever, but hopefully he will be feeling much better real soon.

Happy Mother's Day!!

I hope you all had a great Mother's Day. We went to my mom's after church and had a nice lunch. Then Peter and I left all the kids with her and went out to Ikea to take a look around. Nothing too exciting but a nice and relaxing day. Here I am with my three babies in orange.

Mom

I am happy to inform everyone that my mom is home from the hospital. Turns out she did have food poisoning but because it went untreated/unnoticed caused an infection in her intestines. After a few days of a completely liquid diet and an IV she was hydrated enough to be released home. She is still recouping from the past few days events but she is feeling much better. Hopefully by this weekend she will be feeling even better and back to a somewhat normal diet; I would hate for her to be sick on Mother's Day.

Locked Out

It has been a week since Oscar was last driven. When I got home from Ohio I asked Peter for the keys and he couldn't find them. He had used the van to take Bresa to school that morning and then came and got me from the airport in Ophelia. We have turned the house upside down to find the keys with no luck. We thought perhaps that the keys got locked inside but I had a friend from work pop the lock and still no keys. Because the key is has the computer chip in it (transponder key) it will cost us a couple hundred dollars to have one made and that doesn't include the keyless remote that is also lost. :(

Prayers for Mom

Last night Jim called me and told me that he had to take my mom to the emergency room. She had had a really bad stomach flu and after taking some antibiotics it got even worse. The admitted her over night and were hoping to release her this afternoon but decided to keep her a couple more days. Jim said that she has an infection in her intestines but mom said that the nurses think she got some form of food poisoning like salmonella. Either way she could definitely use your prayers so I thank in advance for keeping her in them.

A full day

After I got back from Ohio I was looking forward to being able to sleep in today but then on about Thursday I remembered that I had a woman's ministry workshop at the church bright and early.

Oh well, I guess sleeping in will have to wait. I went to church and had a great time, as usual, and then came home around 3 pm.

Once I got there I did a few things around the house to make it nice and tidy and then I took the kids outside to plant those bulbs that I had attempted to plant back on my birthday when Peter surprised me with reservations at the Melting Pot.

I really needed to get those things in the ground and I today was as good a day as any.

Bresa and Abbi were my big helpers as always.

They poured the dirt and dug the holes and planted the bulbs before covering them up and watering them down.

I am not sure how long they will take to grow and hopefully I didn't miss their prime season.

And where was Javan during all of this? Well right along side of us, of course!. I will get to sleep in a little bit tomorrow before church, that is, unless Javan has other plans.
