We're Back!!

Javan and I touched down safely at the Orlando Airport this morning right before 10am. We had a fun week in Ohio with Tina and Noah but were happy to be home to see Daddy and the girls. Javan did great flying. He pretty much slept the whole time and woke up to nurse and look around a little bit. I was really worried about him crying or having ear problems but he didn't seem to notice the altitude change and I think he was just happy I was holding him the whole time. When we got to Ohio on Thursday we went out for dinner and then got all settled in.

On Friday Tina and I ran a few errands and did a little shopping while Noah finished up a bit of work he had. Tina and Noah love to cook so I always eat well when I go to their house. Not only does all the food taste good but it is made with healthy ingredients so even if I were the type to feel guilty about eating good foods I wouldn't have to there.

Also, Tina and Noah have a large assortment of board games and they always have unusual ones that I have never heard of. Saturday we spent most of the day playing games which was really fun. I love learning new games and figuring out which ones I want to buy for our own house. They have a good game store that isn't too far so we stopped by there and I got a small expansion and some tiles for my Carcassonne game. Tina and Noah also have a Wii so I made a Mii and we played a few games on their system, including the new Mariokart. I was terrible at it but that just made it funnier.

On Sunday we made plans to go the Kitchenaide factory and store which isn't too far away. We checked the hours on the brochure we had but when we got there we found out they were closed on Sundays. I guess we had an old brochure. Oh well, we stopped and got lunch and then went to a garden and just walked around.

It was really weird to see lilies everywhere. We don't have them in gardens here in FL so I kept thinking they were fake. They also had lots of daffodils and other flowers that we only get to see on tv. The daffodils and pansies reminded me of Alice in Wonderland.

Monday was my last day there so we made it a point to stop and feed the Geese (also something we don't have here) and then Tina and Noah took me to a place called Utters and Putters. As you can guess from the name it is a farm that has a miniature golf course (well two actually). They also have batting cages, a driving range, and a petting farm, as well as a couple other things I can't remember. We played a round of golf and then walked over to the gifts hop where they also sell homemade ice cream. Yummy!! We walked around a bit afterwards before driving over to Ester Price Chocolate Store. After drinking a great milkshake I wasn't in a mood for even the free samples at the store but Tina found some sugar free candies she liked. Javan was a pretty good boy but he had his crying fits too. Towards the end of the trip he got worse so I guess he was ready to come home. It was hard not having any help with him and having him 24/7, that just made me appreciate Peter even more and also feel bad for him when I have to go to work during the daytime. It is good to be home now but there are things that need to be done and also I have to return to work in the morning. Thanks for the great trip Tina and Noah, I really had a great time and loved all the games. I am thinking about purchasing Starfarers of Catan at some point.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Tomorrow Javan and I are flying out. We are going up to Ohio to see my best friend, Christina, and her husband, Noah. I got everything packed up to leave and I find it ironic how Javan, though he is so tiny, has more luggage than I do. Obviously this will be Javan's first plane ride. I have never flown with a baby under a year old before so this will be a new experience for both of us. Hopefully everything will go smoothly on our flight. It is only a couple hours long so maybe I will get lucky and he will sleep most of the way.

A Fine Saturday

Peter and I have been working on cleaning out the spare bedroom and also working on the attic. Peter had to insulate the attic so that it would be nice and cool in the garage and he could get some work done. It took most of the day but Peter got the attic all nice and loaded up and we cleared out most of the back room stuff. While we were working the girls colored the driveway with chalk while Javan watched on. At lunch time the girls had a nice little picnic since it was such a beautiful day.

Spreading Freckles

On June 30th of 2007 I posted a picture of Abbi with her newly appearing freckles. Now almost two years later Abbi has lots more freckles to show off. I often ask Abbi if I can have some since she has lots more than me but she just says, "No these are my freckles and I can't take them off." The photo on top is the one from 2007 that I posted before and the photo on the bottom is a shot I took today.

He Is Risen!!

Happy Easter to everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful day and got a chance to celebrate with your families! We had a long but fun day ourselves. Peter was playing guitar for both services at our church but I went to the later one after I got the kids ready and met up with Peter's dad. The service was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it. After church we went home for a quick stop and then headed over to my mom's house for dinner. The kids all fell asleep on the way which was good because they could use a little nap even if it was really short. We got to mom's and had a wonderful Rib dinner prepared by Jim after Janell and Wyatt came over with baby Charlotte. After dinner and a few photos the girls hunted for eggs in the backyard. That Easter Bunny sure left those things everywhere. Once they were all found it was time to color eggs. Abbi stayed pretty clean but Bresa's hands turned completely blue. Aunt Janell made cool Olive eggs for the girls because we were teasing Bresa about olives at dinner the night before. After the eggs were colored and everything was all cleaned up it was time to tear into the Easter Baskets. As usual the Bunny was very generous and Javan's basket was bigger than he was. The girls got lots of goodies but thankfully not too much candy in their baskets this year. After a few more pictures with Grandma and the new babies it was time to head home; Bresa is back to school tomorrow and she needed her sleep. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday but above all the candy and eggs remembered the true reason we celebrate! Praise God for his son who saved us all!!

Wedding Days

Today my Aunt Chris was getting married up in Jacksonville and we wanted to go up there to see the family. Peter and I and the kids met up with my sister and her family and then drove up to Jacksonville. We were a few minutes late at the meeting place and everyone had already taken off for the ceremony. We didn't have any numbers to contact anyone so we left a note on the door and went to the mall. As soon as we got there we got a call telling us to come back. We ended up meeting up with everyone finally and then went out to dinner with them all. It was good to see my grandparents again, they hadn't met Javan yet and it had been a while since they last saw the girls. We may have missed the ceremony but we still had a good time at dinner.

Best of Both Worlds

Yesterday my Dad and Judy came over for a visit. They just got back into town from a few months spent up in Maine. Knowing that Bresa is obsessed with Moose they often commented on how there was moose paraphernalia everywhere up there. Bresa has lots of moose animals and Abbi is growing a small giraffe collection but she still can't sleep unless she has one of her many snugglies. It started with just one and it became her security item and now she has several. Putting the two things that the girls love together I asked Dad and Judy if they could look for a snuggly with a Moose head for Javan. Dad and Judy kept their eyes open but they didn't come across any, I looked online but still had no luck. Judy, being the creative person she is, decided she could just make one for Javan. So yesterday Judy delivered her wonderful gift and now Javan has the only Snuggly Moose out there! She used really cool Moose material for the backing and made a cute scarf too, the top is a soft fleece material, perfect for hugging on! In the picture you can see how excited Javan is to have it too! Thanks Judy, it's perfect and you made it so well, I would never guess that it had been handmade!!

A new guitar to share

Hey guys. I just wanted to share some pics of this guitar I just finished working on. I replaced the rosewood fretboard with ebony with custom inlay (BC is the client's initials). The board is scalloped (the first acoustic I've scalloped) and, of course, I added the LED's. This one has a dimmer control for the lights also.

Strawberry anyone?

Every morning I make a smoothie for breakfast with strawberries and bananas. Up until last week the strawberries were pretty cheap at the store but this week the price doubled. We have a couple of friends who frequent the Volusia County Farmers Market so Peter asked Bill if he could pick up a flat of berries for us. Bill got all these strawberries (plus one more basket that we already ate) and 6 garlic bulbs for us for just $6. I washed and hulled a bunch of the strawberries to freeze so they will last me a long time. Thanks Bill!!

Play

Last week our friend Jake brought her daughter over for me to take some photos of for Easter. We all went to the park to try and get some good shots and after the photo shoot we let the girls play on the playground. I took some photos while we were there, here are a couple...

Congratulations Nicole and Alec

We woke up this morning and got all cleaned up. The wedding didn't start until 4:30 so we had some time to kill before then. We went out for breakfast and then wandered the Lakeland Mall and ate a light lunch before we headed over to the gardens to get ready. Today was a perfect day for a beautiful wedding. Nicole and Alec are finally married and the reception and ceremony were beautiful! The girls looked gorgeous in their flower girl dresses and they were absolutely perfect in their jobs. They walked elegantly down the isle and dropped petals as they went. They stood up straight and watched the ceremony with all the bridesmaids. They didn't play around at all and then they walked back down the isle and took a bunch of photos while still behaving so well. At the reception we had a delicious dinner and Bresa danced the night away. At times she was the only one on the dance floor. The girls tried to catch the bouquet but proved to be a little too short and then Bresa collected all the gems off the tables to fill her basket while Abbi fell asleep at our table. It was a great night and we left just before the bride and groom as we had a long way to drive yet. Congratulations Nicole and Alec, we are so very happy for you and we wish you the very best!!

Here are a couple more pictures from the night...

Rehearsal Dinner

Tomorrow is the wedding that the girls are flower girls in. The wedding is at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven and we had the rehearsal dinner tonight. We picked Bresa up from school and then came straight out to try and make it in time but we were still a bit late. We had dinner and then went to the location of the wedding for "practice." The girls were quite fidgety and wanted to sit when they were were suppose to be standing and wanted to play games instead of being attentive. Not really sure how tomorrow is going to go but I sure hope it is better than today. I think once everyone is all dressed up and not everyone is talking at once the girls will be a bit more focused on their flower girl duties. We got a hotel to stay over night instead of driving back and forth. Now I don't let the girls jump on the bed at home so they were shocked when I got in the hotel room and started jumping on those beds. :) Pretty soon they joined in and then Daddy had to take a turn too. As you can see we all had a blast and even Javan thought it was funny.
